Re: Feature requests - general topic

This is going to be hard to implement (maybe), but sometimes I find myself adding a fit sum + experimental points to a figure. What do you think about doing an easy import? For example, if you create a new figure and drag+drop multiple tables onto the figure, you will be asked "what do you want to i...

Not copied while holding ctrl

Hello, I think there should be a bug thread or I am creating too many on myown. :D

In the same project, if you hold and drag + ctrl then drop, the items won't be duplicated (or copied). It works properly if you do like this way onto another open project.

I have been looking for this feature for ages but I have never thought of proposing it.

OK, I see. What is the minimum deviation of residual sum of squares setting in Preferences, Fitting tab (Ctrl+U opens preferences)?
1*10^-14

yep, at -13 it does work. Decimal points, I have upto 10
So there is just matter of preferences, okay! Ty!

there you go

the range is almost flat (but not actually flat), so I am surprised that it failed the first time. In order to get a fit, I must have to change the range

Re: Broken Best View feature

Great! And by the way, I could be a just random nonsense error. The file you'll find attached, if you try to use "fit one curve" feature it will say that it cannot fit a line in that area. Obviously if I change the range of the area it will fit the function but, any clues why does display that error...

Broken Best View feature

Hello. For one of my figures the "best view" button is broken, it is just doing nothing. It was not working for the fit plot neither for the normal plot. But I fixed without noticing the normal plot, so now it is only broken for the fit plot. I wanted you to have both broken for a better understandi...

auto save feature

Hello. I think the auto-save is nice and it is even nicer that the weird blinking thing was fixed. But I have a question about it: when you have both files (auto saved and normal one) and you open the older one, you are asked for "which one of those would you like to open". But afterwards, the older...

Zero filling

Hello.

I have been told that I should use the "zero filling" option before using Fourier transformations, to get smoother data. Nevertheless I have not seen the option in magic plot.

Is it hidden somewhere?

Thank you.

Re: How does the sorting work?

Hello again. Is there any way to print from an "if" a text into a column? I have tried to set up a column in text format but I am not able to print a string. I have realized that the last method you spoke me about (temporary index) works nice, but not aaaalways. Because my data is experimental, some...

Re: How does the sorting work?

- Bad news for the formula. I got excited (as always) because I saw that for column B it work and then I posted it... it works but for half of my system. Lately I checked that for column A it is not that good. - But also, good news: I have understood the last part. You propose to use the "more optio...

Re: How does the sorting work?

Wow, that fast reply... I have just edited my post thank you! I have seen now your edit: I agree with you, it is a patch that only works because we know the distribution. It will fail if the system is not 100% predictable (exact distribution for each different B values) I could develop a better syst...

Well, it was just an example but... yes, now that you say so... I can sort normally the column B and they end up having a logical structure. Re: How does the sorting work?

Hello! Ok, so the "more options" feature actually does something just in the situation two rows matches... that's explains why it does not work to me. I thought it would work kind of the following example: two columns 0.12 1 0.21 1 0.13 2 0.23 2 0.11 3 0.22 3 if you sort according to B ascending mod...

How does the sorting work?

I can sort a column using "more options" feature. How does it work? I have found that for me it does nothing in particular. Yes, they are. I've uploaded the file within the .rar, because the forum does not allow to update .pdf files. This happened to me after applying a template. Re: Feature requests - general topic

I am sorry for beeing too much demanding, but as developers you will think what is better or not for the program. This might not be useful or is just too unoptimized (obviously the best is: do the formula derivative , equal it to 0, after solve. I think this is too expensive and requires expert soft...

2) Okay, I find that cool. Atleast is more accurate than doing it freehand if the number of points is high. Afterwards, new column > cmax() > boom, a really good aproximation of the maximum is obtained (batch processor and booooom, for every fit plot). This must be faster than exporting the Report t...

Re: Feature requests - general topic

I was talking to my boss and we concluded the same: 1) For us, the "processing > smooth" magic plot feature is interesting not to smooth but to convert figures: We use Savitzky-Golay method and 3 windows points. That way, the points in the plot won't be changed and we can use that function to conver...

Fit curves list

When you add a new curve and try to drag it, it will always be dropped one position above the one you desired
Example:

Curve1
Curve2
Curve3

you add curve 4
Curve1
Curve2
Curve4
Curve3

You try to drag and rop curve 4 to the 4th position, it won't work

Adding curve to plot problem

Hello. On my curves I normally plot them together, generate their fit plots and after, overlay the fit curves in the original plot. For doing that, I add each fit curve one by one using the "figure properties" window. Now, the problem is the following: Depending on where you click, the fit curve won...

Hello. Correct, you can find attached some examples. Hello! I think it would be awesome to have an option that paints your plot with some gradient colors. I have to do it by hand now, if e.g. I want a rainbow looking, I decide a maximum and minimum shade, divide maximum-minimum by the amount of lines I've got and then, generate each color. The same fo...

Re: asymmetrical distribution functions

I think we need the skew function, because I have no much clues about how to fit the graph attached. As you'll see, at low Hz values it looks like a gaussian curve (it fits good there), but while the frequency increases the curve gets wider and asymmetrical. We believe that what we are seeing two as...

Magicplot 2.8.2 as default program

Hello. I've posted it on the old forum (I didn't check there was a new one). I use magicplot either on my home or the work and I've seen the following problems on both computers: 1) There is no way to switch the default program for .mppz file to 2.8.2. On default programs list "mppz_auto_file" for 2...
