### Re: Fitting multiple x,y data with single line fitting

Hello, You can add all x-y data to the same two columns, so the table will look like X1 Y1 X2 Y2 X3 Y3 ... Note that if your data sets contain different number of points, the curve with more points will be counted with bigger weight because all points in the created composite table have the same wei...

Hello Arthur,

If your curves have the same X, you can calculate an average in the table. Place all Y columns to one table, then add a new column and set the formula for it:
( col(A)+col(B)+col(C) ) / 3.

Hello Arthur, There is no a straight way to compute the area in MagicPlot, but you can try to do it in two steps. You can split your curve on positive and negative part (you can select any horizontal line to be 'zero' (adding a constant) provided that the curve do not intersects that line). Then you...

Hello,

Yes, we can partially confirm the issue. Your Y data is constant (all Y values are equal) so the program cannot estimate the Y range correctly. Of course, the X range must be changed independently and some reasonable Y range (like +/-10% must be set). We'll fix it, thank you for reporting.

The low R^2 only says that your data is "not likely a straight line": the linear formula does not predict the "haotic" variance of the points. If you change the scale, you can see it as the algorithm sees it (I placed some points manually, that's not exactly your points).

Yes, text operations are not supported. Moreover, the column can be either numeric or textual as a whole (in this case the background is changed).

The idea with '1111111' seems OK. I can only add that you can return NaN (it's a constant) in formulas to set an empty cell.

### Re: How does the sorting work?

We are editing simultaneously

There is another idea how to deal with it. You can add a column C with temporary index:

Code: Select all

``````A B C
0.12 1 1
0.21 1 2
0.13 2 1
0.23 2 2
0.11 3 1
0.22 3 2``````
and then sort the entire table by 'C, then B'. It can be faster to implement, maybe.
If your order data is regular as in the example, you can automate sorting using column formulas:
col(D) = cell(B, 2*((i-1)%3 + 1) - 1 + floor((i-1)/3))``````
