Re: Lines in 2.9.1

By the way, before I could drag and drop tables into a figure, opening the "add data to axes" window. Now, when I do the same, the tables are duplicated and I am asked for deleting the tables + figures which are dependent from these tables. Crazy.
Thank you for the bug report, we'll fix it!

Re: Lines in 2.9.1

I have found that in this version, if you add to a plot multiple tables at once, now the lines will not only have different colours but also different line types. Is it intentional or a bug? Do you like the new behavior or the previous? The new is better for black and white papers, but the old may ...

Re: Broken Best View feature

OK, I see. What is the minimum deviation of residual sum of squares setting in Preferences, Fitting tab (Ctrl+U opens preferences)? It seems that it is too small and floating point calculations are not precease enough in your case, so it cannot reach this unrealistic value. I have tested 10^-13, it ...

I'm sorry for the delay. I cannot reproduce the error, "fit one curve" works with this data range, so it seems to be a specific error. We'll double-check all possibilities.

Re: Broken Best View feature

Hello,

Yes, we can partially confirm the issue. Your Y data is constant (all Y values are equal) so the program cannot estimate the Y range correctly. Of course, the X range must be changed independently and some reasonable Y range (like +/-10% must be set). We'll fix it, thank you for reporting.

Re: auto save feature

Hi! The auto save feature was designed for using in rare cases. Your project data is the highest value for us, and we make our best to prevent the data loss with erroneous clicking on buttons in dialog windows (which nobody want to read in fact). This is why MagicPlot preserves both files after reco...

Re: Zero filling

Yes, you are right, the zero filling of the signal before Fourier transform can increase the resolution of the spectrum. But this feature is not implemented in MagicPlot yet, as the windows functions for FFT. You can fill your column with zeroes in the data table using formula dialog.

Re: R squared

The low R^2 only says that your data is "not likely a straight line": the linear formula does not predict the "haotic" variance of the points. If you change the scale, you can see it as the algorithm sees it (I placed some points manually, that's not exactly your points).

Re: R squared

Hello, The Fit Report contains such rows with values for the last fit runned: Coefficient of Determination R^2: ... Adjusted R^2: ... The R squared shows not only "how good the parameter values are" but also "how good the fit model (formula) is". So R^2 also depends on the amount of the noize in you...

Re: Fit curves list

When you add a new curve and try to drag it, it will always be dropped one position above the one you desired Example: Curve1 Curve2 Curve3 you add curve 4 Curve1 Curve2 Curve4 Curve3 You try to drag and rop curve 4 to the 4th position, it won't work This issue is fixed now in MagicPlot 2.9. Re: How does the sorting work?

Yes, text operations are not supported. Moreover, the column can be either numeric or textual as a whole (in this case the background is changed).

The idea with '1111111' seems OK. I can only add that you can return NaN (it's a constant) in formulas to set an empty cell.

Re: How does the sorting work?

We are editing simultaneously :)

There is another idea how to deal with it. You can add a column C with temporary index:

Code: Select all

A B C
0.12 1 1
0.21 1 2
0.13 2 1
0.23 2 2
0.11 3 1
0.22 3 2
and then sort the entire table by 'C, then B'. It can be faster to implement, maybe.

Re: How does the sorting work?

I have tried to substitute the 3 on your formula for 37 (number of values of A for each different B values) It's 2, not 3, that need to be changed. 3 is the number of different values in B column. It's hard to operate with such formulas with Indexes because we address here the 'source' index knowin...

Re: How does the sorting work?

If your order data is regular as in the example, you can automate sorting using column formulas:

Code: Select all

col(C) = cell(A, 2*((i-1)%3 + 1) - 1 + floor((i-1)/3))
col(D) = cell(B, 2*((i-1)%3 + 1) - 1 + floor((i-1)/3))
Please check.

Re: How does the sorting work?

Hi, great to hear you :) Sorting by multiple columns works as follows. The program sorts rows by the first selected column and if the values in the first column are the same, the second column is taken into account. As an example, imagine sorting of a table with family names and given names columns:...
